4 Ways to Respond to People Who Think You’re Overpriced
So… people are telling you that you are too expensive? Here are some great ways to respond to the haters.
1. Value is everything
I have told you many times, show your value. People are willing to pay for your products as long as you are able to show the value in your product. When someone is questioning the cost of your product, you can easily show quality supplies, time spent, and expert skill level through sharing your posts.
2. Compared to what?
So many people will always say.. “I can find this cheaper on Amazon” and ya know what, you are right. But on Amazon, everything is mass produced and they make billions of dollars in profits every year to be able to sell things at lower costs.
They may also compare you to other small businesses. Some people may be able to charge very little for a similar product in which case you would explain why you cannot charge that little.
3. Ask them what their budget is
As a small business, you can easily pivot and make accommodations BUT do not give away your product. Having a better understanding of where their mindset is on budget, you may be able to educate them on the reality of your industry.
4. Ignore them
I know it is not great customer service practices but sometimes people are really just trying to get free stuff out of you. If you think this is the case, it is acceptable to ignore them and move on with your day. As small business owners, we don’t have time for that!
Unfortunately, as a small business owner, these are the scenarios we deal with often. Which every route you decide to take, make sure you handle it with poise.
You got this!
